A Word From Our Director
It has been so rewarding for me to be the artistic director of The Smith Family Conservatory of the Arts for the past decade and to watch our students achieve such success on our stages. Many of our alumni pursue performing arts on the collegiate level and go on to work professionally all over the world. It is my greatest joy to see our students find a passion for performing while studying in The Smith Family Conservatory of the Arts. In the Conservatory, we expose and train our students to the best and latest education to be offered all while instilling within them a Biblical world view. It is important that our students understand the Conservatory’s Mission, Vision and Values while training, studying and producing stage productions.
Our Mission
To nurture, advance and preserve all aspects of America’s great indigenous art-form: The Musical. We achieve this by creating extraordinary theatrical experiences that enrich, entertain and inspire current and future audiences everywhere all for the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Our Vision
To be the preeminent educational theatre company in the country – achieving the highest levels of artistic achievement, production quality, audience engagement, and community impact.
Our Values
We are dedicated to achieving consistently high standards of excellence in theatre education by showcasing professional, Broadway style performances and creative artists, utilizing full live orchestras, and staging exceptional and imaginative productions.
We place special emphasis on collaborating with numerous Broadway professionals, technicians and musicians to continue to stay relevant in the ever-changing world of theatre and entertainment for the sake of bringing the best quality productions to south Florida.
Each season, we program a vibrant and dynamic mix of productions that attract, delight and retain a large and diverse audience and reflect the broad scope and cultural significance of the American Musical – past, present and future.
We ensure our future by serving as a creative incubator to the many students training and studying in The Smith Family Conservatory of the Arts and by engaging our community through educational theatre and programming of the highest caliber.
As audiences are entertained throughout the year, I hope that they are moved within their souls by the power of story-telling, but more importantly I hope they see the power of our great God at work within our students as their gifts are on display for His glory.
1 Timothy 4:14 “Do not neglect the gift that is in you...”
